“Thank you all for riding with me. I’ve learned changed and grown so much. This is a reflection of that, and a gift to you all. Love you”-KESSWA
KESSWA is the interdisciplinary artist Kesiena Wanogho.
Her work integrates performance, video, music and spoken word to function as a resource for emotional healing.
Portage Garage Sounds and KESSWA’s collaboration started with a chance encounter in 2019, leading to film scores, performances with the Live Ensemble, a striking vocal duet with John FM on 2Lanes’s “Baby’s Born To Fish…”, and the pandemic-era multimedia video / performance “ls My Mind A Machine Gun?” (with Shigeto and Vinnie Massimino).
In the past year, KESSWA provided backing vocals on the Sudan Archives single “Home Maker”, appeared on Theo Parrish’s DJ-Kicks with “Chasing Delerium” (feat. Nova Zai), received the prestigious Kresge Artist Fellowship in Film & Music, and was featured in Season 7 of Google’s Creator Labs.
